3D Permaculture (in English) It is the process of building and regenerating a human Habitat in a sustainable way, an edible and organic landscape (biome) that is supported by a form of Permacultural resilience and 3D Technology; of Multisystemic thinking.

Design a Virtual Forest, to potentially release the source code so that anyone can physically replicate it, they are digital models for the study of biological, physical and social processes and use all possible ecotechnologies integrating them into the design "The important thing in itself is not its design by parts, which can change according to the taste and choice of the inhabitant and producer, but rather the complete system and as having it in 3D allows to examine it before carrying out the execution of the work; finding shortcomings and saving eventualities in unnecessary costs of material and time, and thus being able to find standard models for each biotope”Says Rubén Navarro Domínguez.

In the words of the same Project “Nace to make learning, integration and understanding of agroecological agriculture techniques, permaculture principles, bioclimatic procedures applied to infrastructures, productive systems that go beyond the conventional framework, etc., be much easier than ever”.

But what is in-depth 3D Permaculture? What are the problems that the Permaculture 3D project solves? How can I participate in Permaculture 3D? Where am I going or what is the source? And how can I get soaked?

For this we have carried out an interview with the breeders of the project:

What is the Permaculture 3D project about?

The project tries to take the concept of design in permaculture to a new level; a level where it is more intuitive to understand the deep ecology from which permaculture starts; a space where technology helps humans to create the future we all want; where to take care of the earth and take care of the people comes from your computer screen to your garden, farm and family; We take the 12 principles of permaculture and make a warm infusion with them to, when looking out the window at sunrise, to help us and help rethink the world in which we want to live.

Permacultura 3D designs, advises, studies and analyzes the projects to be executed, and TerraForma executes, coordinates, trains and carries out all the construction management of said projects.

What is the end goal?

There is no final goal, the goal from the beginning was to show that things can be done differently, Redefine aesthetics (from a landscape point of view) and that reaching more people through virtualizing permaculture is possible; the objective is already fulfilled today; then there are several scalable goals in time that will appear in the 3D Permaculture scene at the appropriate time; We don't like energy dissipation, we love Permaculture 3D; but so to speak, "there is no ceiling." While with Permaculture 3D we help to put dreams in digital form, with Terraforma we make them come true.

Who is in charge of the Permaculture 3D project?

We are currently a multidisciplinary team of multisystemic thinking that is being formed; there are several support teams globally to establish an organizational chart to keep the project going as planned. To date, the term Permaculture 3D has been coined between Alexandre Pereira Álvarez and the person who speaks to them Rubén Navarro Domínguez, both from the world of permaculture, landscaping and design. We note that it transcends us and that other sectors are needed in the project, economy, eco-therapy and emotional management, trainers and educators, plus technical design, forest management, horticultural management, developers, programmers, logistics technicians, directors and coordinators of events; an endless human team to which we will open the doors through a virtual casting that we will announce at: https://www.facebook.com/3DPermaculture/
https://www.facebook.com/permacultura3d/
our two pages for Spanish and English speakers, since if there is someone interested and believes that they can contribute something positive and constructive to the project, get in touch through these means or simply follow both pages to find out and stay informed about casting updates.

How do you invite the participation of the general public?

On the one hand, people see designs in 3D and they become passionate, they see that things can be made concrete, things that before were only seen as a utopia, now can be done in three dimensions. This makes people more involved, believe in themselves and are encouraged to participate, suggest, let out their mental desires to see them materialize. On the other hand, the fact of using computer programs makes it easier for permaculture users to do their work, as well as easier to interpret the designs; In 2D you interpret to get to the message of the plane in the design; On the other hand, with 3D it does not require so much effort to understand, it is almost intuitive. The amount of young people who see in permaculture and 3D design a possibility to really bring down their way of understanding the world. Also, most of our Terraforma clients end up understanding much of the workings of deep ecology, of the need for efficiency and self-sufficient processes in permaculture.

In what phase of the project is Permaculture 3D?

We are currently beginning to take the first steps as a project; After many years of work and being involved in the world of agroecology, permaculture, landscaping and various social and human aspects, we are in a position to propose this fusion of concepts to the collective and see if it has enough arrival as to be able to work on something in which we feel passion; design sustainable habitats and build them meticulously.

What is terraform?

Terraforma is the executing arm of Permacultura 3d, so to speak; It is the operation of professionals who will carry out the work, trained and professional people; everyone has their own project, but Terraforma joins forces for large projects when it comes to being able to offer everything from technical design to the finest work execution; In the end, what matters is that things are done and done well and enjoying the process.

What are the different processes that are currently carried out for the management of Permaculture 3D?

Although we are in an early phase of constitution and we do not have a totally closed organization model; Most likely, we are going from a non-profit, formal and decentralized organization model; in virtual educational research center mode; o Institute of Virtual Permaculture to a holocratic organization to honor the times of current profound changes.

How do you see the food situation in the world?

I see it in the wrong hands; Someone realized that one lived more comfortably from the farmer than from agriculture, and that is how the green revolution began in the 60s and the human being began to get sick along with the planet, and here we are; without being able to ensure world food sovereignty and looking the other way instead of looking usury in the eye ...

What dangers does the creation of industrial foods entail?

Industrial foods are produced industrially; and it is done on a large scale, deforesting large amounts of native forest to plant monocultures on fertile land that is tilled by oxidizing and killing the microbial stratified complex; then herbicide, fungicide, acaricide, nematicide, pre-emergent, various insecticides are applied so that nothing grows except the final hunch; Genetically Modified Organisms GMO tolerant to all the above poisons; plus the contamination of hydrocarbons and of the petrochemical, automotive, packaging and distribution industries ... Dangers? We are crazy? At what point did we allow this to happen?

In the problem we have the solution right under our noses and from our pockets, the creative way to change we all have inside.

What are the advantages of alternative ecological methods?

Non-dependence on industry, slowdown in pollution, food of RAW (organic) quality, less energy expenditure, less agro-inputs, cohesion of the social fabric, food sovereignty, increased quality of life in society, fair trade, ¿¿ Have I already said Food Sovereignty?

Some of the methods that we use and take into account when designing sustainable Habitats are agroecological methods such as the preparation of bioles, Effective Microorganisms, Bocashi, and some very powerful bio-fertilizers; systems like Hügelkultur, Diseño Hídrico and Key-line, Biochar; as well as systems for the disposal and management of elements such as agro-silvo-pastoral systems based on Syntropic Agriculture and Analog Agroforestry, together with synergistic and biointensive agriculture. We also take into account passive heating and cooling systems such as Canadian wells and trombe walls, within a bioclimatic and biophilic framework when planning constructions and structures; if they fulfill several functions it is ideal.

Where do you plan to perform?

We understand that the community around Permaculture 3D is Global; so there is no point in a place other than "The cloud" for this project, the place is without a doubt, where everyone can take what they need and contact whoever they need, "everyone's house, the people's house."

How did the idea come about?

The human being has been linked to nature since the beginning of time. When moving from rural spaces to the urban world it is very easy to lose this connection with nature; biophilic design is a current of architecture that is committed to re-establishing these links between nature and human beings; We also integrate the variant of edible landscaping, since since we are linked to nature, its fruits and millions of flowers are the ones that embellish our homes, cities, streets and the collective heart.

Coming from the world of permaculture design and landscape design; Whenever we can, we incorporate permaculture knowledge in both landscaping designs from the philosophy of putting energy into the construction of sustainable green spaces; if in addition to aesthetics it does not have several more functions; it is neither sustainable nor scalable over time; hence the edible landscaping; And what better way to take the tools of permaculture to design biophilic landscaping, along with new 3D technologies so that it is better understood.

What design tools were used?

Depending on the project, usage varies between various programs; normally the sequence is AutoCad, ScketchUp, Lumion, Photoshop, Vegas Video; sometimes some more.

Is the project Open Source?

At the moment we are evaluating various options from the board of directors; but it may be that in the not too distant future we will open the source code globally.

How are they financed?

We are currently self-financed, but the idea is to accept donations from people who believe in what we do, who understand the importance of re-formulating and re-designing the entire productive fabric after the global economic downturn; We believe in people and humanity, otherwise we would be excited to help co-create our future together.

Do you plan to open a space to provide the source code to users? What would?

Another issue that we are also assessing is the impact that # 3dpermaculture is creating; Many people ask what software we use for designs, planning and renders; and we find that it is too complicated to depend on proprietary software in such quantity; AutoCad, Scketchup, Lumion, Photoshop, Vegas video… It is not sustainable over time; that is why we have not considered developing a Software for Permaculture 3D; We are evaluating various options between Free Software, Open Source and Freeware.

What are the main problems faced by Permaculture 3D?

From our permacultural perspective, from where we think that the problems are the cause and indicative of the solutions to be implemented, we understand that we have an incredible range of possibilities for conflict resolution.

Currently people are disbelieving since the dominant paradigm is colloquially accepted where things are what they are and will not change, but fortunately for everyone this is changing, and being able to solve problems in a creative and permacultural way begins an alternative for many people .

Why is this project launched now?

We call it a project but it is not, it has become a reality; He is already on the street playing ball with his friends, and he has come to stay and help human beings during the 21st century. It is a live animal that has had a gestation of 10 years; and it makes its entrance now because the world is in turmoil, and permaculture has a lot to help with. It is the ideal time for the 12 principles of permaculture to become a determining actor in the design of cities and the production model; that now more than ever, they need technologies that help to regain self-sufficiency and identity; to leave our erroneous zones behind and cheer ourselves on this exciting future that we want to co-create.

What can happen if the project expands?

In the possible horizons contemplated since the global quarantine of the COVID19 crisis in 2020, an unprecedented expansion of the concepts of #permaculture, of #resilience, #soberanialimentaria appears; if the # 3dpermaculture or # permacultura3d project expands; The most feasible thing is that the concept of permaculture, with its ethics and principles when it comes to designing sustainable habitats, begins to have much more presence among us as a resilient alternative to face what comes.

Finally, and in closing, do you have any ideas that you would like to share?

Yes, hundreds, but right now the idea of a Legion of permaculturists determined to reseed the planet and redesign our environment, makes me shudder. #We are legion.
