Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park it is a dip in nature easily accessible from Venice and yet so different from the lagoon panorama. The territory that preserves alternating medium and high mountains, embraces the Feltrine Alps the peaks of Pizzon-Feruch, i mountains of the Sun and of Schiara-Pelf and Talvéna. It protects over 1400 plants and flowers, hosts alpine species, including birds of prey, called to coexist with some specimens of lynx and bear. As a symbol the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park has Moretti's Campanula, an endemic species of the Dolomites: it grows on the cliffs at altitudes above 1200 meters and gives purple blooms to those who decide to visit this beautiful park that is too little known.

The National Park of the Belluno Dolomites it is located less than one hundred kilometers from Venice, also in Veneto, in the southern sector of the province of Belluno and Belluno together with Feltre is the main city of entry into this splendid protected green area.

National Park of the Belluno Dolomites: fauna and flora

There is no shortage of endemic, rare and precious phytogeographic species. The oldest are in the southernmost part, less devastated by the glaciations. The flora of the Belluno Dolomites National Park however, it is not only of the alpine type, it also gives us types from a boreal and Eurasian - temperate environment, or typical of the circum-Mediterranean mountains.

Turning to the wildlife heritage, they are counted 115 species of birds that nest in the Park and 20 species of amphibians and reptiles that live there. THE chamois, symbol of the Gran Sasso national park but also present here with over 3,000 specimens that enjoy it together with 2,000 roe deer. Far more graceful, there are also 100 species of diurnal butterflies, without detracting from the agility of the aforementioned mammals.

Even the CAI offers ideas for not wandering at random: its path network includes 52 paths and 5 via ferratas in addition to High Routes of the Dolomites numbers 1, 2 and, in part, 3 that always cross the protected area of our interest.

National Park Authority of the Belluno Dolomites

L'National Park Authority of the Belluno Dolomites which manages the protected area was born on 12 July 1993, with a decree from the President of the Republic, while the park was established with a Ministerial Decree of 20 April 1990. The current extension is about 32,000 hectares, half of which is already constituted in 8 Nature Reserves belonging to network of biogenetic reserves of the Council of Europe and managed by the former State Agency for State Forests.
