How to uncork the ears: tips to free the ears from water, earwax or phlegm. All the remedies to unclog the ears.

The ears must be cleaned regularly to avoid infections or hearing impairment caused by excessive accumulation of earwax, the so-called cap. The earwaxit is not the only element that can annoy our auditory pavilion: water, phlegm, altitudes and sudden changes in pressure can clog the ears. In this guide we will explain like uncorking ear wax, from water, phlegm and other annoying elements; we will also see how to maintain proper hygiene of the auditory pavilion.

How to clean the inside of the ears

There is an old saying doctor which suggests not sticking anything into the hole in the ears. This is only half true because with a little caution or with special products, it is possible to clean both in depth and around the ear. Insert inear unsuitable objects mean irritating the ear canal, causing infection, or even perforating the eardrum. Cleaning your ears correctly can be a procedure that, if it is part of your routine, will not cause any discomfort and above all will not force you to uncork the ears.

How to uncork your ears from ear wax

Prolonged bad hygiene causes the formation of the so-called plug of earwax. For uncork the ears from that annoying ear wax, special products are available in the pharmacy; usually these are spray packs or syringes. There are also liquids that must be mixed with hydrogen peroxide.

If you buy a spray, just bring it close to the ear hole and apply pressure on the appropriate button, ditto for the ready-to-use syringes. The anti-wax syringes are very practical to use: they are loaded with solutions of water and hydrogen peroxide or saline solutions. Don't worry, these are syringes without a needle and equipped with a special nozzle suitable for entering the ear cavity. These products can be bought at the pharmacy or by using the web shop. To give you some examples, we point out two useful links:

  • Syringe remove earwax
Reusable syringe for injecting cleaning solutions into the auditory duct.
  • Pressure cleaner
Classic pump cleaner, sprays water into the auditory duct.

How to uncork the ears from the earwax plug

For uncork the ears in a completely autonomous way, without resorting to the use of special products, you can use simple hydrogen peroxide concentrated at 3 or 4%. Hydrogen peroxide is not lacking in any home. Alternatively you can use a simple saline solution (for example, a 0.9% concentrated physiological saline solution). To enter the solution in the ear, even in this case you can get help from a syringe without a needle or the classic pressure cleaner. Fill the syringe with the liquid, tilt your head back and to the side, turning your ear upwards. Carefully insert the tip of the syringe into the ear and spray a few drops.

At this point, place a cotton swab on your ear to allow the liquid to drain. Do not push the wad into your ear.

For excessive training of earwax, it may be necessary to repeat the procedure even twice a day for four or five days, until the entire cap is removed. Note well, if there is no earwax plug, the hydrogen peroxide technique (hydrogen peroxide) should not be used more than twice a week because hydrogen peroxide could dry out the ear canal. Hydrogen peroxide should not be used if you have a perforated eardrum.

To maintain proper ear hygiene, many otolaryngologists advise against the use of cotton buds. Rather, they promote the use of the end of a damp cloth to wash the outermost part of the ear cavity. In any case, it is often enough to rinse the ears during the shower.

How to uncork your ears from water

L'water in the earsit can be very annoying but there are some remedies we can implement to get rid of it. The first obvious thing to try is to tilt your head to one side and let the force of gravity act, which should make the water flow away. Tilt your head to one side and, making sure that the ear is parallel to the floor, exert pressure with your hand for a few seconds on the auditory duct. Release and allow the water to come out.

Yawning and chewing are two useful remedies both for water in the ears and if you feel the "ears blocked by pressure". When chewing and yawning, move the jaw and jaw which act directly on theear medium allowing its decongestion.

Another home remedy for uncork the ears from the water consists in lying on the side for about ten minutes.

Foruncork the ears from the watersee exercise # 1 in the next paragraph dedicated to pressure variations.

How to uncork pressure-blocked ears

After a dip in the sea we can perceive the sensation of clogged ears. To solve this nuisance, a diver would advise you to "compensate for the pressure variation ", in what way? You should block your nose with your fingers and push the air as if it wanted to get it out of your ears. If the discomfort does not go away, it means that water has penetrated inside the auditory duct. In this case we recommend the following exercise.

Exercise # 1
The exercise will be done with the arm on the same side of the blocked ear. Contract the arm and make contraction movements by extending the arm outwards.

How to uncork your ears from phlegm

In this case, the cold must be treated to free the ears. By treating the flu, all the symptoms associated with it will disappear. To promote the well-being of the ears and make the symptom regress, you can follow these precautions:

  • Drink lots of hot liquids (hot milk, hot tea, chamomile, broth ...)
  • Fill up on vitamin C and iron.
  • Avoid sudden changes in temperature that can increase mucus production.
  • Decongest the nose with saline solution or with natural remedies (water, salt diluted to 0.9% and eucalyptus essential oil).

Eucalyptus essential oil to uncork the ears

Eucalyptus essential oil has decongestant properties: it is perfect to add to aqueous or saline solutions used in syringes or pressure applicators.

The active ingredients of eucalyptus essential oil have a powerful mucolytic, expectorant and decongestant action, and are accompanied by monoterpenes, substances with antispasmodic and balsamic action. Thanks to these properties, eucalyptus essential oil is very useful in case of respiratory tract diseases, congested nose or blocked ears.
