  • Garlic

Garlic is an ingredient with strong antibiotic properties that can prove effective in the case of infections caused by ingrown nails. The substances contained in it fight inflammation and accelerate the healing process of the areas affected by the infection.

  • Ingredients
  1. 1 clove of garlic
  2. 1 adhesive bandage
  • Procedure
  1. With the help of a mortar, chop the garlic well then apply it to the nail
  2. Cover the nail with the bandage and let it work overnight.
  3. Repeat the treatment every evening for at least 15 days
  • Onion juice

The natural juice obtained from onion is rich in therapeutic properties similar to those of garlic.
Thanks to its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, it is possible to reduce the redness of the affected area.

Half an onion
Half a lemon
1 cotton pad

  • Procedure
  1. Blend the onion then add the lemon juice
  2. Filter the mixture with a cloth sieve then apply the product on the area affected by the redness using the cotton pad
  3. Repeat the application morning and evening for at least 15 days
  • Epsom salts

Baths with Epsom salts are included as a natural remedy for the grandmother; they are said to help repair cuticles and prevent nails from getting under the skin.

60 grams of Epsom salts
2 liters of water

  1. Heat the water, being careful not to reach a high temperature, then add the Epsom salts.
  2. Soak your feet for about 20 minutes, dry them and cover them with socks.
  • Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is also counted as a natural remedy for ingrown nails. Its antibacterial properties help protect the infected area and reduce inflammation.

70 grams of apple cider vinegar
1 liter of water

  1. Just heat the water, pour the apple cider vinegar then immerse your feet
  2. Leave them to soak for about 30 minutes then dry them.
  3. Repeat the treatment every evening for at least 15 days
  • Vicks VapoRub

Against ingrown nails, many recommend the use of the classic menthol ointment; according to proponents of natural remedies, this antiseptic product would be able to soothe the irritation and pain caused by ingrown nails. You can apply the ointment alone to reduce pain or mix it with a little garlic for a more powerful and rapid effect.

1 teaspoon of Vicks VapoRub
1 clove of garlic
1 bandage

  • Procedure
  1. Chop the garlic clove then add the ointment until you get a paste.
  2. Rub the mixture on the ingrown toenails and cover with a bandage.
  3. Leave it on overnight
  4. Repeat the treatment every evening for at least a week

Ingrown toenails prevention

If the congenital factor is excluded, the best way to prevent ingrown toenails is to protect the feet from trauma and to wear shoes and socks that leave enough room for the toes. The nails must always be cut and filed in a square shape, with a clean and perfectly functional nail clipper, without rounding the corners. They should never be shorter than your fingertip. Always keep your feet clean and dry.
