Biocalce, a very special mortar used in green building but not only. Whether or not you are a fan of bio, it is better if you find out about this material that will amaze us.

Biocalce: what it is

A very special mortar, so much so that it is even called "bio", let's see why. It's a lime mortar hydraulics with a natural conformation, rather recently introduced into the building market.

As a building material, it is considered, and is in effect, very porous, this feature makes it useful in cases where it is necessary to make an environment drier than it is in the normal environmental conditions in which it is found, in the absence of Biocalce on the walls.

Biocalce intonachino

Intonachino for sympathy, perhaps, but we can talk about plaster referring to this product which must be made according to traditional techniques such as cooking marly limestones at a temperature of about 1000 °. It is composed of pure natural lime.

The companies that offer it on the market, in order to ensure that it is of high quality, according to the regulations of the sector, cook it for a long time and only after a long shutdown phase, they grind it. This procedure allows us to obtain one Better biocalce because its pre-cooking characteristics are not too affected by sudden changes in temperature.

When we use B. intonachino to build or complete walls and to build new buildings from scratch, we note that this material is able to dispose of considerable quantities of water. In this way it preserves the environments from eventual presence of humidity and consequent mold and bad air, making them habitable and pleasant instead.

Biocalce stone

There Biocalce stone is always a natural mortar, widely used in greenbuilding and in historical restoration also because it contains only raw materials of strictly natural origin and can boast of being with low CO2 emissions and very low volatile organic compound emissions.

Recyclable as an inert material at the end of its life, the b. stone is recommended when we go to raise the facing walls, or when we create brick or natural stone walls, both internal and external.

Conversely, do not count on excellent results with B. stone if you want to use it on dirty or dusty supports, or with numerous interstitial salinities.

Biocalce zinzaffo

Always certified natural, eco-friendly, this mortar is equally loved by those who believe in GreenBuilding but it is a specific product for leveling and adhesion renderings before plastering. Furthermore, it is tested and certified as a rendering mortar in accordance with WTA standards rehabilitation of damp walls and saline above ground before applying the plaster.

Biocalce price

On average 25 Kg of biocalce intonachino can cost from 8 to 10 euros, depending on the brands and offers of the moment. Alongside the cost, I must also mention the benefits associated with this product.

In case of humidity in the masonry, the biocalce manages to improve the situation and also the bioclimate inside the house. Its nature is so organic that an exchange of air is created between the internal and external environment which can only help those who are "inside". I wouldn't neglect either its disinfecting power, due to the high pH that keeps bacteria and molds away from the walls, but above all I want to reiterate that using Biocalce means use a perfectly recyclable material as inert.
