Faber Test, it is not a test to enter university or even to understand what character you have, it is used for allergies. Developed with Caam and Adl, it is an innovative tool used to diagnose allergies, the trademark is registered in the office of theEuropean Union for intellectual property, the idea was recently presented during the meeting of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology.
Faber Test: what it is
This new diagnostic system called Faber Test, it is a test that is worth many tests. It lasts 4 hours and is performed on about 150 allergens in 4 hours, it provides very consistent and useful, wide-ranging results, which can also be obtained online by the patient. It was not at all trivial to get to this test, it took a team effort that involved the Associated centers of molecular allergology (Caam), Allergy Data Laboratories (Adl) and with the support of the Austrian company MacroarrayDx.
Faber Test: opinions
Just the idea of the Faber Test it creates expectations and sympathy because it is comfortable and practical, and would allow many to avoid a series of specific "trial and error" tests with a waste of time and money. There is no mention of a "niche" advantage, because allergy is a problem that affects more and more people in recent years.
In Italy, but not only: we are not allergic people, the problem affects the whole world, almost 40% of the whole world. Of course, it varies from area to area, even with respect to climatic conditions, but certainly the Faber Test it is a novelty that everyone welcomes with joy and great expectations.
It is one of those cases in which innovation and research have achieved a result that can clearly improve the quality of life of a large part of the population and also of color who live next to allergy sufferers. Moreover, the fact that it does not require a preventive fast and that it does not come plays to the value of this test influenced by the intake of drugs, even if they are those prescribed for the treatment of allergy. It takes 4 hours to do the Faber Test but then the results arrive in a short time and can also be consulted online.
Faber Test: how it works
After taking a blood sample, it must be processed with microtechnologies, based on a biochip in which the 244 allergenic preparations are immobilized which take into account food, pollen, mites, molds, fabrics, insects and so on.
It is not as obvious as it may seem, that with a single test, with the Faber Test, you can explore so many allergy possibilities, all at once. In addition, it is not just the “classic” allergies, there are also not quite common allergenic substances and to which you can tell if you are allergic.
As it will be done this test to an increasing number of patients, a growing database will be formed that will allow specialists to understand more and more of it, therefore to refine diagnoses and to carry them out in an always updated way.
Faber Test: cost
To date the Faber Test it is paid and so far a few thousand have been made. Now that it is no longer experimental, however, it becomes available to anyone who requests it and then gets the results online through the 'InterAll' electronic medical record, accessible not only from the site, but also from smartphones, tablets and PCs. They've already made versions of it in nine different languages, including Chinese.
Faber Test: where to do it
The network of laboratories that has already begun to carry out the Faber Test it extends in Italy but throughout Europe, arriving in America and Asia. In any of these locations, the process is always to take a very small blood sample to be able to then understand how it reacts to the 244 allergens. It can also be performed on 1-2 month old babies because it is neither harmful nor invasive.
We owe it all to technology and research that have managed to couple allergens to very small supports (nanobeads), using different types of chemical bonds and optimizing the conjugation of allergenic proteins with the support.
Between 244 allergenic preparations we find 122 molecules and 122 characterized extracts, coming from about 150 different allergenic sources. Food, pollen, mites, epithelia, molds, latex, bee and wasp poisons, fabrics… Nothing is missing, or almost.
Faber test (or Patrick test) for the hip
Before the invention of this one Faber Allergy Test, there was already a test for a completely different issue but with the same name. I refer to that Faber Test which is also called Patrick's Test or Fabere Test as a contraction of the definition of Flexion, Abduction and ExtraRotation.
This is done on the hip to assess the pain of this joint, usually in the presence of a pubic symphysis or a muscular, capsuo-ligamentous problems o bone of the hip joint. Allergies have nothing to do with, in this case: the test evaluates whether the problem affecting the hip is of muscle, capsule-ligament or bone origin.
